I have Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac, which I use to run a Windows 7 Professional VM.

I recently upgraded to the latest build (8.0.18619), at which point I started to encounter some problems I've never seen before.

Firstly, the Parallel tools update failed repeatedly. I eventually had to reinstall Parallels Desktop. That problem seems to have gone away.

However, a problem that persists is that I can no longer start my Windows VM by clicking on an alias of the .pvm file, which previously worked fine. What happens now when I click the VM alias is that I get a dialogue box titled Parallels VM Mounter which announces that it is starting the VM, but which simply hangs. It doesn't appear in the process list for Force Quit, so I have to restart my Mac to get rid of it. The only way to start the VM is by starting Parallels Desktop and using File/Open.

This isn't a tremendous inconvenience, but something that I used to be able to do no longer works, and it started with the upgrade to the most recent build. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

    Chris
