    Hi all,
I am pretty new to macs and parallels so I am not really sure where my problems lies.
I have some quickbooks files that I have stored on an external drive. I tried to access two separate companies and get the "The company file you elected could not be found" message. When I go to the external drive to look for them, I find that they have been marked as "read-only" files. I don't know how that happened. When I go to change that, the change will not hold.

I recently upgraded to El-Capitan and Parallels 11.
I notice the file system on the external drive is PrlSF versus the Windows NTFS format. I tried copying the files to my VM drive (NTSF) but still can't remove the read only permission.
Can anyone help me remove the "read-only" permission?
    Thanks

Hi Gary, I believe the files are located on the Mac disk. We suggest you to navigate to the folder location and then right click on the folder >> Get info >> Allow read and write access to all the users. Then follow the steps suggested here.
