Problems assigning LPT1 in Windows XP

Hi,

In a standard windows XP environment I am able to assign LPT 1 to a network drive in order to facilitate printing from a DOS program which is still in use after 15 years.

However, in Parallels, while the port assignment works for the DOS program, all other output for Windows programs is directed to the same port, preventing Windows programs from printing to the local USB port printer.

Deleting the LPT1 port assignment returns Windows printing to normal.

Clearly I need a solution to this problem for the short term and would appreciate any ideas on how to overcome this.

The DOS application will be redeveloped in time but this solution is needed immediately.
