I am trying to install Windows XP in Parallels 8. I currently have Windows XP (the same one) running on one Mac in Parallels 8. When I first set it up & installed Windows, it was in Parallels version 5. I upgraded to version 6, no problems. Upgraded to version 8, no problems. I am trying to set up another Mac to be a backup while I take the first one (the one that has Windows XP running in Parallels 8) in to have some work done. I installed Parallels 8 on Mac #2, but when I tried to install the Windows XP operating system, I started having problems. First, I get an error message during the installation process: Windows Script Host Script: C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\Autounattend.vbs Line: 3 Char: 1 Error: The system cannot find the file specified. Code: 80070002 Source: (null) I click OK & it goes away & I get the Windows screen, but still within a window that says it is "Installing Windows XP." The little round blinking icon indicates that it is running, but I can't see that it is doing anything. If I leave it for hours, there is no change - keeps running just like that. If I try jumping in & using Windows, still nothing changes. It seems like it is bombing out @ installing the Parallels tools maybe? It will never run in Coherence & I am never able to see my Mac files on it - It's like a totally separate machine - no shared files. Thinking that maybe the older Mac (#2) didn't have enough RAM, I tried setting up a second virtual machine on Mac #1 (the one that's already running Windows XP in Parallels), but have the same problems. I am a real novice - Please help!
