First let me say I have no issue using my mouse or any External Hard Drives. Parallels prompts me that they have been inserted to the port. But I've tried a few times to use certain "special" devices that have Windows-only drivers and connectability and they fail. Previously I was trying a Plextor USB video interface so I could record VHS tapes to my computer. Downloading and installing the driver seems to have had no effect. Opening the host programs gives blackness when trying to capture video. My current dilemma is that I was given a Dell A920 Scanner. I installed the Dell Personal Printer All-in-One Driver which includes this model. I don't have Photoshop so I grabbed the free program irfanview which does have a "Select TWAIN source" section in the File menu. The only option under this is USB 2800 Video 1.603 (32-3). I assume this is the USB port or else represents the Scanner? Selecting this does nothing. I then go to "Acquire/Batch Scanning..." which appears to be a setup page. I choose Single Image and click OK. Then I get the following error: "General failure in response to MS_OPENDS. Bummer error. STI code = 8x80070491" Can anyone suggest other options to try or settings to check out? If not I have to get rid of this Scanner.
