    Hey fellows,

i have some really hard troubles to find the right strategy to backup my machine. I'm running an CentOS 7 guest on a High Sierra host. The Guest is located an a USB 3.0 UASP device and has a size of round about 200 GB. Before a year ago, i used TimeMachine to backup the PVM File. Time Machine makes backups to a local NAS and to a second target on a other dedicated external USB 3.0 storage. Then my Guest Drive crashed and i was not able to recover the PVM File. I restored the whole PVM file but it was corrupt and i cant use them. I started then with a fresh Installation of the guest OS and configured it completely from start. The most projects i recovered from the outside located project files (I`m a web programmer) and it's external gitlab repos.

Since then i have deactivated the backup of the TimeMachine for the PVM File, and used that Snapshots, where descibred here: http://kb.parallels.com/8827

I thought the snapshot were in my TomeMachine Backup located, but this was a big LOL, because i have seen that the snapshots only inside the PVM file. Big LOL... ok... two days ago i came at the morning to my mac, and Parallels was freezed. I have to restart my whole mac and saw, that the external disk was not active anymore. I used the Disk utility from mac to repair it. All was fine, the disk was activated an my guest server up and running. Today in the morning the parallels software was freezed again. Holy hell, i did again a repair with the mac utility in the hard drive tool. It says "ok", but the partition with all my data can't get activated anymore. I buyed a very expensive recovery tool and have restored all the *.hds files from the partition. All other data i can restore from my time machine backup. I created a new virtual machine and integrated therein the DiskDescriptio, the drh file and all hds files. I booted up the machine and it works again. I reconfigured the network on the cent os and all worked fine. For ten minutes. Then some errors appeared on the screen with "XFS CPU#1 stuck for 23sec!" the machine freezes again (now located on a another USB disk, not the old one) and can't boot. I have to do xfs_repair and was able to boot clear. The machine runs and i have rebooted mutliple times. Then the error came again and i have to xfs_repair it...

Now i bought the update from Parallels 11 to 13. Hope this will resolve this Issues. But none of the Backup Strategy (TimeMachine PVM File or the Snapshot which is a joke to place them inside the PVM file) works for me. And now im looking for a backup that works.

    I need:
    - Complete autmatic Backup of the whole Guest
    - Incremental Backups every 4 hours
    - Backups for the last 31 Days
    - Backups for the last 24 Months (one per Month)

Disk space is not relevant, i have many storages here and buy new one if it's necessary. But in all circumstances i need backups they work.

    Thx for any feedback.
