My Mac crashed and I can't transfer my license to a fresh OS install. I got this when trying to activate. Why is this so hard? the *standard* industry practise would be to 1) trust model, that your user is going to install on only one machine. 2) allow up to x numbers of activations per y number of months - i.e. microsoft windows activation model or 3) even if this is a tight enforcement, there should be mechanism to unallocated the license (thereby invalidate the last install) and reallocate this to a new machine (office 365 like model). Parallels' main competitor was much straight forward. I was forced to purchase a copy from their competitor, because the support process is so convoluted on Parallels - I sent an email last week to what I thought was support (yes under support), then cleverbridge (after two emails) said that it's not their job. WTF? And this support forum, requires another account confirmation validation email. Why is everything so disjointed? The product may be streamlined, but the customer experience left a lot to be desired. Please please please fix this and make this process user serviceable.
Hi @JosephW1, We would like to inform you that the Parallels Desktop license key has several activations, but before the reactivation you need to uninstall Parallels Desktop application from the "old" Mac. Also we have change the activation limit of your key and know you will be able to reactivate it. Also our partner CleverBridge cannot provide you with some tech.support, in order to ask Parallels technicians about any questions you may posr on our forum or submit a ticket using this link: http://parallels.com/products/desktop/support/ Please let us know if you have any additional questions to us. We're looking forward to your reply and will be glad to help you. P.S. Please accept out apologize for the inconvenience.
Thank you Maria. Unfortunately I can't uninstall it from my last Mac as it has crashed (i.e. I have absolutely no access to the OS, because the hard disk went kaput). I tried to reactivate this morning, and again it said that I can't as there is a limit there, still. Can you reset the activation number back to 0?
