Windows 2008 64 bit server - user cannot open a published application - all the user gets is a full screen desktop.

I have published MemShell.exe in Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, Terminal Services, TS RemoteApp Manager - no joy

I have configured Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, Terminal Services, TS RemoteApp Manager, TS Terminal Server Settings, "Allow users to start both listed and unlisted programs on initial connection" - no joy

I have tried each setting individually and then both together.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hello,
That might happen either if you have "Always display a desktop" option enabled in AD Gp or if you have some applications starting on user logon on the TS.

I've had this issue before. Should be a simple fix.

The issue is that you probably don't have the terminal services role installed yet.

i.e. Windows is still configured to use RDP for remote desktop / remote administration only.

Once you set it up as a proper terminal server (2003 or 2008), 2X should start publishing just the application.
