I have searched the forums, knowledgebase, manual etc. but found no working answer for this.

We would like to publish applications to non-domain users from a terminal server that is member of a domain.

We have a windows domain with one Small Business Server running Exchange and Active Directoy and one terminal server in it and would like to publish applications from that ts to non-domain users.

Background: We have 40 thin clients in our call center that use only local apps plus one 2x app. As we do not need that these users can use features like exchange and active directory etc. and they would additionally push us very close to the 75 user limit of the sbs edition (which would otherwise be still very far away), we would like to create these users locally on the ts and give them access to the application.

When using a full desktop without 2x (RDP connection) it works like intended, they can open the application - but it´s not practical to have a rdp window plus native applications on your desktop (after all that´s what 2x is made for).

When trying to connect with the 2X-Client we always have the problem that the client brings our domain name into the mix somewhere, no matter what user names I try (Usernames we tried: "test_user@ts", with the direct ip of the ts: "test_user@192.168.1.7" "192.168.1.7\test_user", "ts\test_user" etc. and everything again with forward slashes), but I am slowly running out of ideas ...

Also when I enter a filter like ts\test_user on the 2x-server application settings the server changes the filter to ourdomain\ts\test_user.

How can it be done? Can 2X on a Domain-TS only give access to users with a domain account? What are the publishing filters like IP address, computer name etc. there for then?

Our 2X-Server is version 6.2, our ts is a Windows Server 2003, the client is the newest version.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,

Have you tried to remove the Authentication option from the Application Server?
2X Console > Connection > Remove Always require user credentials for applications list.

Note: You must edit the 2X Connection Logon settings.
Username must contain a user added to the TS (Local Logon)
Password must be the password of that user located on the TS
The Domain must be the TS computer name, not the Domain.

I have tried the above with version 8.1.870 and it worked fine.
Even automatic Logon on the TS worked.

Client OS was Windows XP and client was 2X version 8.1.870

See if it works for you as well
