Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me. I run parallels 8 on a macbook pro with a virtual Windows XP operating system. The windows virtual system has crashed and cannot be rebooted. The error message says the hard drive cannot be found, I don't have permission, or it's in use by something else. I have attempted to mount the .hdd file using parallels mounter but that didn't work. I also did a new virtual machine install and tried to boot up the old pvm file as a second hard drive but I just get the same error message. Does anyone have an idea of how I could retrieve the data from the old .pvm?
Hello, I just had my computer crash. Had the same errors as you. Fortunately I had time machine backups. Just restoring the pvm file does not work. I restored every file from a backup, the backup was from several days prior when I knew the computer was running fine. It was a miracle come true. Rebooted the computer and everything work as it did that previous day. Hope this helps. Gary
