Okay, please pardon my ignorance, I did do a quick search and read the user manual, but it wasn't blatently visible, so this is probably just a very stupid question. When I'm using Windows, I'll only want to use it for one program (Pro/DESKTOP), maybe have iTunes running on the Mac in the background but nowt else, as it's a graphics package, I want to give it as much RAM as possible. The rest of the 98% of the time, I'll be using OS X, full stop. If I allocate the maximum possible (1.5GB out of installed 2GB), Tiger still gets the whole 2GB back to play with once Parallels quits, correct? As I said, please pardon my ignorance, just wanted to check. System configuration if needed: 2.8Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme 2GB DDR2 SDRAM OS X.4.10 And if you're curious: 24" iMac7,1 1920 x 1200 res ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256MB VRAM Cheers in advance ;-)
Don't allocate 1.5 GB out of 2 GB, that is pretty silly. Allocate around 768MB to Windows. If you need more RAM in Windows (due to an application like PS) MAYBE bump it to 1GB, but I would buy more RAM for your computer first, or use BootCamp. As to releasing the RAM when the VM quits, yes, you are correct.
