Running very latest version of Parallels for MacOS 7. Received my new QB2012 and it will not install from CD. Tried creating a desktop folder and copying all of CD contents to the folder and running setup.exe and does not install or do anything. Looked for a .msi file but cannot fine anything that will install.

Have ALREADY tried turning off ALL Parallels sharing.

Anyone else have any success installing QB Premier 2012?

So, you're saying that Windows is refusing to install QB2012?

Yes. Either when setup.exe runs from their installation disk or if I try to run it from the folder on my desktop where I copied the contents of the CD nothing happens. Just basically times out with no error message. Last year had the same problem and someone offered the suggestion to run the .msi file. Cannot fine anything that will install using a msi file on the CD.

    Quickbooks.msi file found...but no help

When I try to run this msi file from the QuickBooks folder it errors out saying "You need to run the setup.exe program". When I try Setup.exe nothing happens. No error message at all...just like I never tried to open it.

Possible solution - worked for me.

I'm running Parallels 6 and was attempting to update from Quickbooks 2010 to 2012 from the CD. When clicking on Setup.exe nothing was happening - seemed to terminate the program very quickly with no aparent error message on the screen.

I switched the Parallels view out of Fullscreen to Window mode - and opened the toolbox options at the bottom right of the window that show the various devices (CD, Network, Hard Disk etc).

The CD was configured as the particular make of CD in my MacBook - but there was another options "Default CD/DVD-ROM" - which I changed to be selected instead.

Interestingly, when inserting the CD the autostart asked me if I wanted to run Setup.exe pretty quickly (Didn't do that before). Clicking on Setup.exe started the install - and this time the Intuit logo came up to say that it was copying files.

The install from the CD was very very slow - but it got there in the end.

Don't know if this will work with Parallels 7 - but hope it works for you.

    Cheerio,

    FB.

Just one point that might help - you will know that the install is going on if you listen for the CD drive which will make occaisional grunts as it is reading files. It took so long I thought it had died - but it was just reading the files very slowly.
