Hello all. I had parallels desktop 6 running just fine this morning. I saved some invoices as a PDF file no prob. I just upgraded to parallels 7 now the save as PDF function has stopped working. anyone else run into this if so did ya get it working correctly? Thanks all.
Mine too. Have tried reinstalling Quickbooks PDF converter to no avail. When I hit email for an invoice, I get the printer dialog asking to pick a printer and the Converter is not in the list. It is in the "Devices and Printers" list. This worked fine last week before my upgrade to 7.
Yup i have the exact same thing on my system. I can see the quickbook pdf but it does not come up in the printer options. Perhaps we can hear from someone on the parallels team?
Same problem Same here. I've re-installed QB, replaced the DLL's as some user have suggested. Tried the QB PDFFix patch (which just made things worse). Nothing helps. Some have suggested installing cute pdf so I'll try that next.
Cute PDF will work Note: Cute PDF will allow you to print invoices to PDF but will not help you email invoices.
Thanks for all for your feedback! QuickBooks create virtual printer "QuickBooks PDF Converter" during installation, you can see it in "Printer & Faxes" for Windows XP or in "Devices & Printers" in Windows 7. QuickBooks use it to convert your files to PDF format. In the process of converting QuickBooks switches the default printer to "QuickBooks PDF Converter" and then restore default printer back. Parallels Desktop 7 synchronize printers between guest OS and host OS and synchronize default printer. This doesn't allow QuickBooks to switch default printer to "QuickBooks PDF Converter". Thats why you can not convert files Workaround: 1. Please goto Configure of your Virtual Machine - Main Menu -> Virtual Machine -> Configure =OR= Right click on virtual machine in virtual machine list -> Configure =OR= Click on icon of Parallels in top-right corner with pressed Alt button on keyboard (if you in Crystal mode) -> Configure 2. Select "Hardware" tab 3. Select "Print" 4. Disable "Synchronize default printer" After these steps, everything should start working properly. p.s. In our opinion this is not quite right, that QuickBooks change the default printer to work with him. We'll talk to QuickBooks about it Best regards Kirill Bagrinovskiy
Thank You - It works This has been a thorn for me. I even tried deleting and reinstalling QB. After trying this, it works. Hopefully it will stick.. Cheers, Dean
Fixed for me too!!! This has been a real pain, but such a easy fix. Hope they can work it out with quickbooks to fix this problem...
