Reinstalling stuck at 36 percent

Hi,
due to unfortunate circumstances, I accidently deleted all documents data (default data for virtual machines) and then emptied the trash.. I was in a finding hdd space frenzy!
just reinstalling my virtual machine with windows xp, all went well but at the preparing installation part it was stuck on 40 % then I restarted it and immediately went to 38, then the same thing happened but now stuck on 36 percent. The windows right hand screen is still flashing messages about the 'new' windows etc and the green dots ares still moving along but no luck.
The first time I installed xp (the one I stupidly deleted), I had a similar problem but worked after several retarts down to 15 and 17% and then worked.
I have cleaned the cd. I have rechecked I have enough room.. how much should I have?

so please help. Parallels is a great help with things.

Have you tried making an image of the CD and attempting to install from that?

 

Problem fixed - I got lucky!

Thanks Eru for your help, but I sorted it out. - luckily.
I just rebooted my mac, used the remove a virtual drive? assistant, then rebooted again, and it all went fine.
