    hi--

i just found a way around a bug, and i want to know if there are other solutions that would be quicker. The gory details about what did not work are below.

the problem was this: Parallels Desktop 6.0 would start but never get past the spinning wheel. i tried using the proposed fixes in the troubleshooting area of the Parallels website, but they did not help.

here is what did work: shut down my mac. depress option, command, p and r keys. press & release power button to restart. release other buttons after the first chime. this is to reset the parameter ram. after i did this, Parallels runs fine.

i'm running Parallels Desktop 6.0.12094 revision 676494; July 13 2001 on my MacBook Pro running OS X version 10.6.8 on a machine w 2Ghz intel Core i7 and 8GB 1333 MHz DDR3 ram. ( it may be clear at this point that i am not a techie )

the troubleshooting section of the parallels website suggests these fixes:

to try and fix the hanging problem, i did this in Terminal: defaults write com.parallels.Parallels\ Desktop User\ Preferences.Show\ Welcome\ Screen -bool NO

and also this: sudo launchctl start com.parallels.desktop.launchdaemon

and also this: Open Applications folder on your Mac > go to Utilities > Disk Utility and repair Disk Permissions.
Open Mac's System Preferences > Universal Access and put "Enable access for assistive devices" to 'On'.
Open Applications > Utilities > Terminal and execute the following command: sudo chmod 755 /Applications/Parallels\ Desktop.app/Contents/MacOS/prl_client_app
