I am running Parallels 6 with 10.6.6 on a 2x2 dual core Xeon with 10 gig of memory and a RadeonX1900 with 512mb.
There is a legacy game on my XP virtual machine that I play that requires 800 x 600 with 256 colors which I set up using the program assistant in the VM. My VM is setup with 2 processors using 4 GB of memory and 256mb on the video card. It has been about a year since I have played this game and everything worked like it should. I had the tab checked in the VM configuration to adjust the screen resolution on the Mac so the game window would be full screen instead in the tiny box. Now, when I exit the game, the virtual machine no longer restores itself to the default screen resolution. I have to manually change it back. Sometimes the spinning beach ball will appear before I can change the resolution in the VM, then I have to control-shift and quit the VM. At times this will lock up the Mac system as well requiring a hard reboot.
So far I have tried reinstalling the Parallels tools, changing the number of processors to one, adjusting both the physical and video memory and unchecking the 3D acceleration and vertical synchronization boxes. Inside the virtual machine, I have rolled back the video card driver and re-ran the program assistant for the game..... all with no joy.
Could this be a bug related to one of the Parallels build I have installed since I last played the game or am I missing something? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
