Restore HDD Time Machine Backup and Parallels

I am interested in knowing how many if any of you have had to actually use the backup from Time Machine to restore Parallels HDD file and been successful.

I've read some comments here about this and I am nervous that when I need it it won't work.

Would also be nice to know the educated response on this matter from Parallels themselves.
