I have a brand new 2013 MacBook Pro 15" w/ retina display/ OS X 10.9.1. 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 memory. Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT650M 1024 MB. I have Parallels 9 with a brand new installation of Windows XP service pack 3. Rogue Squadron will start up and run....kind of. The opening runs fine, but it freezes up when I get to the create a profile page. I do have it running in compatibility mode for Windows 98/ME in 640X480 screen resolution. I have been able to run and play the game on an older PC with Windows XP service pack 2, so I thought it would be able to run on my MacBook. It is a little better if I run it in compatibility mode for Windows 95, with no changes to the screen resolution. I can get a little bit farther on the profile creation page before it freezes. But I still can't create a profile or play the game. The sound works perfectly fine. I do have some other games of similar age that I have been able to run and play perfectly fine on Windows XP in Parallels. Racer refuses to run at all. When I start up the game, I get an error message "Unable to continue Error. Unable to open display for 3D." Trying to run in compatibility mode does not help. Any suggestions? These are the games that I have been able to play in Windows XP in Parallels 9. Civilization II Alpha Centauri Alien Crossfire Oregon Trail II I also am unable to run Black & White, but its not really a big deal if I can't get that one to work.
