OK.. so I installed and used parrallels 2.5 over 3 years ago... and gee.. what a surprise.. lost the original email with the *original* activation key... though I did in fact register the product at the time of installation... So.. here I am.. replacing my old MacBook with a new one... and after a bit of haggling with the Parrallels website it decides I can do an upgrade instead of just buying new.. well.. it saves me a few bucks.. so I say ok.... Then when trying to install the beast... it asks me for an activation code.. which I provide from my upgrade email notification.. Then it asks for the ORIGINAL activation code (see above first line of this post).... Since I cannot ferret out that code I punt and chose the trial button.. (bad choice on my part)... Now.. I have a two week activation code.. Parallels has my 60 bucks.. and if I want support.. well.. I can get it as long as I get out the credit card again... So.... since all the responses I've been able to get *strongly recommend I check the knowledge base* I can only interpret that as being some automated thing trying to get me to shell out even more money so they can say RTFM and RTSP (read the small print) while whomever manages support can say "we responded to every issue this week" in their management meeting.. VMware is looking better and better today
