    Hi,

b4 the I was a vmware fusion user. yesterday, i uninstalled it and downloaded the trial of parallel desktops 4.0.
Now, whenever i click any .exe file on mac, it says:"Vmware failed to launch".

Is there anyway I can link the exe up with parallel desktops?

    Thx

    Jay

As I can see VmWare failed to remove file association correctly.
When Virtual machine is running, click Applications - Shared Windows Applications - Populate
After that check which is default application to open exe files. it should be windows explorer.app

    Hi John,

I tried to fix it myself b4 I read your reply.

On mac, when I right click and select open with... there are two windows explorers. one is windows explorer (5.9), other is another explorer which links to the vmware-failed dialogue box. I chose the 5.9 explorer as a default. the vmware failed dialogue has disappeared. but it switches to the windows window and does nothing whenever I clicked any exe files.

I have done what u suggested. populate the windows apps. problem still there.

    anymore suggestions?

    Thank you

Yes, I checked. well, it seems some exes do open in parallel but some don't. is it because my system didn't uninstall the vmware entirely or what?

    How did you remove Vmware?
Did you use uninstall or just moved to TRash?

i used its own uninstall. and i used spotlight to find any files with the name vmware as well. but it seems i still couldnt get rid of it entirely.

ps: i found a bug. when i full screen parallel ad then "spaces" it to another virtual desktop. it doesn't fit into the new virtual screen.

Probably you can install and uninstall Vmware Fusion one more time
As for Spaces I am not able to reproduce situation, may be you are switching to Spaces on another Monitor?
