I opened Parallels and see that it recognizes existing VMware Virtual Machines. I currently run VMware Fusion 8 on a Mac 10.11.6. I would like to test Parallels and possibly move over to using it instead of Fusion, but I didn't want to open the Virtual Machines on Parallels before asking a couple questions:

Is it safe to say that virtual machines created within Fusion or Parallels work with the other products, and opening them with either software will not change them in any way? Or, cause them to not be opened by the other software, either Fusion or Parallels?

    thank you,

  2. Hello jeffM1,
With Parallels Desktop for Mac you can use Windows that you set up using earlier versions of Parallels Desktop, as well as VMware Fusion by following the article.
In order to know the steps to transfer the Parallels Desktop virtual machine to the different application, please get in touch with the respective product support and get clarified about the process.
