Has anyone tried successfully - to create an appliance (guest OS), then move it to an external hard drive. Then open the Parallels Applicance from the external Hard Drive?

I have a Mac Book Pro and I use Parallels to create application server, test OS sessions, etc.

I would like to move the Parallels Guest OS folders I have created to an external (USB or FW) drive and upon opening Parallels CHOOSE to open the appliance from the External HD to save space on my MacBook Pro.

Has anyone tried this, does anyone do this currently??

    Thanks,
    Jamie

I have tested this for a few hours. It appears that as long as the External drive doesn't go to sleep, it works fine.

Anyone else care to test this and let me know your experiences?

I've successfully created clones which I've saved to my external Western Digital portable HD with my MacBookPro. I can then select and run it when I start Parallels.
