I downloaded an evaluation of Parallels 6 and am having difficulty running Windows 7 with Parallels

Macbook 4GB memory , 500 GB hard disk, Running Snow Leopard

The hard disk is partitioned with a Mac partition and Windows partition
I can boot either with bootcamp

I want to use Parallels to boot Windows partition whilst in Mac OS

I setup a Parallels virtual machine for the Windows 7 partition

It boots and get to the Windows login prompt.

With a network connection, if I enter my domain Windows login and password, it hangs at the stage of "Applying User Setting"

Without a network connection and using a local account - login succeeds.

Our IT support said the below, but hope someone can suggest a solution.

    regards

I’ve just been looking into this now and it seems it’s a common problem with integrating Windows on OSX with Active Directory.

It seems that when the Windows/OSX install tries to connect to the domain and apply folder redirection/settings etc the attempts get counted as user login attempts. When you try to login to the domain it must try to reach many folders/locations on the network and so you will get locked out.

This also explains why you can boot into safe mode and locally but not on our domain.

I found the bulk of this out from here http://www.macwindows.com/AD.html There doesn’t seem to be a fix for it either I’m afraid...
