OK so my XP VM has corrupted itself - blue screens at the end of the boot with some flashing message about unmountabe boot drive. Great reminder why i dont use XP as a native OS anymore.

I'm resigned to creating a new VW and starting from scratch but it would save me 1-2 days work if i can salvage some files from my old VM (.hdd) image.

( I tried cloning the VM but it just hung)

I read on another thread that you can mount an old .hdd as a seperate drive in a new VM. Are there any instructions for doing this ?

    Thanks

in the Vm config for your new installation, just add a new hard drive image.
