SCSI controller again, again

Hi,
When I try to start my VM in Parallels 4 I get the message
"SCSI controller not installed and no boot device available" and some other stuff.
I have searched several forums but found no real solutions to the problem. Lots of posts though.
"Repair Windows", right - been there, done that. It doesn't help!

When I boot my MacBookPro directly in Windows, there are no problems at all.
I tried reinstating an old backup - thank God for Winclone - and reinstalled Parallels 3.0 and it worked like it used to (kind of jerky though) I then switched to a recent VM and got some other error message about not being able to find the VM, but again no boot!

Who needs SCSI today anyway????
