I just upgraded to Parallels 9, and got the Kaspersky Anti Virus for Mac bundle. I've installed Kaspersky on my Mac, and I'm wondering if I also need to install Anti Virus on my Windows 8 Virtual Machine. Also - I'm currently running Win 8.0 (not 8.1), and don't know if I should update to 8.1 yet since the last KB post I saw in regards to Win 8.1 is that there isn't Anti Virus available yet for it as a VM.

So in a nutshell - Do I need to run a version of Kaspersky for Windows 8 on my VM if I'm already protected with Kaspersky on my Mac? And as a follow up, should I upgrade to Win 8.1 or is Win 8 fine for now?

Thanks for anyone who can provide insight.

    Hi GermainK,

Kaspersky for Mac will not protect your Windows Virtual Machine and you need to install an Anti-virus for Windows separately: http://kb.parallels.com/116898

As for upgrading Windows 8 to 8.1 VM on Parallels Desktop, it depends on your usage of Windows applications & their requirements. Both of these OS work stable in Parallels Desktop virtual machines.

    Thanks,
