Hi everyone. I'm trying to setup a network with my 2 systems. I'm trying to figure out how to do this. I have a windows desktop and a macbook pro connected through a wired/wireless router. The desktop has a direct ethernet connection from the router and my mac is using it's airport. I've installed parallels on my macbook pro and I'd like to setup a network so my 2 machines can see each other. I'm mainly wanting to do this so I can use parallels to access music off of my desktop pc while still doing my thing In osx 10.4.10. Any suggestions? I've never really setup a network before. thanks Dave
Have you given Bridged Networking a try? Use a router, give them all IPs on the same subnet (should happen by default), you can probably just have the computers use DHCP, most routers allow this.
thanks so much! Did as you suggested and all works 100%. Now i can use the monitor for my desktop hooked up to my laptopfor dual screen recording, but still access all the files off of all of my harddrives on the desktop wirelessly via my router anywhere in my house and transfer the external off of my mac if i need. i can literally move around 4 harddrives now... and it's on windows... on my mac which is the weirdest thing. thanks!
Great, I am glad it worked. I read my message again after posting and your message and I was nervous I didn't give enough detail. Good job on piecing together your first network with that little of directives! Have fun!
