Hi, I'm running a trial version of Parallels now, with Windows 7, and so far the biggest question for me has to do with how the two OS's share with each other. When I first set it up, it basically showed "everything-Windows" on my Mac, and "everything-Mac" on my Windows. I didn't like this at all, because some files are, obviously, not compatible in the other OS, and because it made my desktops a big mess. I thought maybe the files were aliases of each other, so I deleted a few Mac-specific files from my Windows desktop. AAAAnd, they also disappeared from my Mac desktop! And they weren't in either Recycling bin. They were just gone... forever... poof! The forums here say it's a known issue. (Has been known about for years... why not fix it??) So anyway, after some fiddling in the settings, I found the "isolate Windows" option. This solved the problem--my desktops were restored to their own respective internally logical orders again. However, this also seems to have made it impossible to drag and drop the files that I do want to share into the other OS. So my question is: Is it possible to allow sharing between the OS's, but not have everything automatically mirror each other?
Hello AbigailS1, In order to resolve your issue, you can try the following steps: 1. Open Virtual Machine configure, refer http://kb.parallels.com/117287 2. Un-check isolate for Mac. 3. Then click on Options >> Sharing. 4. Shared Folders : You can choose which folder you would like to share. 5. Shared Profile >> Configure >> You can choose the Mac user folders to Windows to share.
