Share folder with MacOS Host

Hello,
I am trying to share a folder I have created in a Debian VM with my MacOS host. Since Linux can make use of mergerfs, I have passed through my HDD enclosure and set it up properly. I was hoping that I could then share that folder with MacOS, however, everything I have read online is only about sharing MacOS folders with Linux. I have seen screenshots of the settings for Windows guests and there is a button for each side.

Does anyone know if this is possible? Or why this is not possible on Linux?

I am using Parallels Desktop 19, Pro Edition, on Mac silicon.

What is HDD enclosure? What does pass through mean in this context? What does mergerfs do? What is "that folder"? What's the name of the settings and buttons for Windows guests?

VMs on Mac silicon have fewer capabilities because Parallels has to use Apple's Virtualization framework.

As an alternative, try enabling file sharing in Linux and connect to it from macOS.

 

The HDD enclosure is just a Probox 8 that plugs in via USB. I suppose I did not need to mention it as it does not affect my issue.
Passthrough - I click on the Linux VM when I get asked by Parallels system should get the HDDs.
mergerfs is a union filesystem geared towards simplifying storage and management of files across numerous commodity storage devices

It mounts multiple storage devices into a single point and manages storing information on each device for me​

The folder is the mount point of mergerfs
Under "Sharing", I see "Share Mac" and "Share Windows" options on my Windows VM.

Ok, so you're using USB pass through.

It looks like the "Share Windows" tab does not appear in the Sharing settings for macOS and Linux guests.

Are you able to use File Sharing in Linux to share the mergerfs mount point with macOS? Or the folder that contains the mergers mount point?

 

When you say "File Sharing in Linux", are you talking about NFS, Samba, or something similar? It is, unfortunately, not possible to use the mergerfs mount point with a shared MacOS folder. So I suppose I am out of luck.

Yes, Samba. Or anything that will allow another computer on the network to view files on the Linux guest.

 

I was looking for a way to use Parallels to share the folder back to the Mac and should have been more specific in my question. It looks like there is not a way to use the virtualization software, so I will have to use the OS's. Thank you.
