I am running a program on a VM Linux (tried FC6 and SLED 9) that needs the simulated interface to run in "PROMISC" mode. No matter what I try, it will not work.

Thoughts or suggestions? I am quite sure it is not a routing thing as I have it set up exactly as my VM running under VM Ware Workstation on the PC.

    Thanks in adance,

    GW

Make sure you are in bridged networking mode. Shared networking runs the guest behind a firewall that will block out all the interesting packets. :)

Hrmmm, tried that... still not feeling the love. I figure it is something on Parallels that is preventing this as I do not have any different network settings on either side, the only difference here is the hardware and the VM software.

Is there any way to turn this hidden firewall off?

Well I tried the most recent production this week and still no luck. I have however found a solution to the problem that worked perfectly, it's call Vmware Fusion ;-)

Sorry Parallels, you just aren't there yet.
