Hi I've currently two PCs. On my newest PC I run Ubuntu 8.04 - it's absolutely fine, I use it for everything except Skype. Running Skype the sound tends to stutter, and I keep losing the connection on video calls. My old PC is a dual-boot system - XP and Ubuntu 8.04. I use the XP just for Skype, and the Ubuntu partition is a spare if I have problems with my new PC. It works, but it's a bit of a mess. I'm thinking of building a new PC, with a decent dual-core processor, and using this to run Ubuntu as my main OS, and then using Parallels Workstation to run Vista as a guest, principally to run Skype. I've got two questions: Can I expect Skype performance to match running Skype on a native Vista PC? What happens if I get a Windows virus? Will affect my Ubuntu VM? Roger D
Depends on how much resources you give to Vista. If as on native PC than you may expect he same performance
