hmmm not the most straight forward process. 1: You have no idea after you upgrade to Snow Leopard that you are forced to Upgrade to Parallels 4.0: No big deal as I wanted to do it anyway and it stands to reason, that Parallels would want to leverage features in the new OS. 2:Given that you dont know the above, then you also dont know that you should have shut down your virtual Machine before you began the process. thankfully there is FAQ that resolve this issue. (essentially rename you parallel folder temporarily during the install process) 3: During the automatic conversion process It got hung up on steps 2 and steps 3. Dropping out to manual mode exposed that if you have later updates of Windows, and (as in my case) my windows version doesnt pass the "Genuine Microsoft test" MS XP puts up a nuisance dialogue to get a legit XP license. Okay ... my bad ... Ill fix it. Had to drop to manual, login manually, do some stuff, and the automatic mode assume control again. Same think happened again with Step 3. Same deal as step 2 - Got to step 4 and that went ok. So what was supposed happen in steps 2 and 3. is there any post clean up work i need to do? I dont regret my decision to upgrade - may be i rushed things - maybe there were instructions warning me of some of the pitfalls. Might have been useful to have "What should know before you upgrade during the purchasing process" docs. Perhaps recommend upgrading to P4.0 before upgrading OS X Passive agressive rant over...
