Subscription expired despite automatical renewal on App Store

    I was charged for my Parallels Desktop for Mac App Store Edition subscription in late December via App Store. This was an automatic renewal.
    Now, attempting to start Parallels I am told the subscription has expired in late December.

    are you using Parallels Desktop Standard version too?

    I got a refund from AppStore and then re-subscribed directly from Parallels webstore. This might foul up the software updates (or something) later on, but sometimes you just cannot win.
