Trying to make first steps on Linux Ubuntu 12.04 Desktop

During the installation of Prallels i was not asked to enter any password not for Linux and not for Windows

Opening a terminal and entering a simple command like

"cd root" or trying commands with "sudo -i" i am asked for a password i actually didn´t enter :-(

    " cd /root/confixx" can´t work....!
    "# ./reset_admin_pw.pl" can´t work as well...!

The magic question is to know the password i even was not asked to enter. Anyone out there to answer my question?

    Regards Ede

Hi Ede, it's your Mac login password, that you need to enter while executing sudo commands, the password that you type will not be visible, please type the password and hit Return/Enter.

Hy Dhruba, thks for answering, but i had already a try with the password for booting up my Mac...!

    Just as example:

    parallels@parallels-Parallels-Virtual-Platform:~$ sudo =i cd root
    [sudo] password for parallels:Ede "return"
    Sorry, try again.
    [sudo] password for parallels:

There is a different password stored for my apple account, its completely differnt and paralles should not be able to read it out and set this for default.

If i am right there must be another way to ernter console commands with root password or even a simple way to set a new one for terminal commands with linux. Soo please give me another hint! ;)

    Regards Ede

    HI Ede,
Yes, you are right! Parellels will not require the password of your Apple account.
So could you try it once more after changing your Mac's password and then entering the new password while executing sudo commands.
