I recently upgraded to Parellels version 8.0.18314 (revision 813278; October 31 2012). I have been running Windows Professional and I log into a domain. Everything was working fine until I upgraded (I don't remember the version it was before but I installed it around October 3rd 2012). When I booted my guest Windows 7 Pro after the upgrade and attempted to login, it failed with the message "The trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed". I called Parallels support and the tech advised me to switch my VM network type from "Shared Network" to "Default Adapter" (thus making the guest machine its own IP address). This solved the login problem, but I do not want to use this configuration. I was previously able to run a VPN from the host Mac OS and the guest OS would have the same access to the destination. With Default Adapter, I can no longer do this. This upgrade broke a useful feature for me. Please advise.
Hi Brian, thank you for feedback, we do appreciate it! To investigate the issue we need some technical information, so could you please reproduce it, send us Problem Report as described in http://kb.parallels.com/en/9058 and give me an ID? Thanks in advance, Hanna
Have you tried this solution http://implbits.com/About/Blog/tabi...on-and-the-primary-domain-failed/Default.aspx ? "This problem can be caused by various circumstances, but I most commonly run into it when I reset a virtual machine to a system snapshot that I made months or even years before. When the machine is reset, it is missing all of the automatic password changes that it executed against the domain controller during the intervening months. The password changes are required to maintain the security integrity of the domain."
The link to the above solution form alev appears to be broken. Is there an updated link? I ran into this problem and talked to our IT. they looked up the name of the device, removed it from the domain then readded it. Then from Windows 7, tried to read the domain, but now it cannot reach the domain server. So I thought it might be the Network setting I'm using and swiched from shared to direct, but I cannot seem to reach the domain from Parallels anymore. Ugh!
