    Hi,

I'm new to parallels, and trying to set up the trial on my Mac. I'm running macOS Sierra 10.12.5 and Windows 10 Home. I'm in the "Transferring your PC" stage of the installation and I'm currently getting an estimate of 27 hours and 48 minutes. I was hoping to be able to use parallels today, since I have someone else who needs to use my windows machine. I'm doing the system only installation and it said it was 112 g. Any advice of how to speed this up? 27 hours seems excessive, especially when I'm not even sure if parallels will meet my needs.

Also, I'm transferring over our network. I do have an external hard drive that is formatted for windows available it that's a faster method, but I didn't see anything about using an external device for the transfer, only network or IP address.

    Thanks,
    Elizabeth

Hi @Elizabeth2, In my experience, the easiest way to migrate Windows to a Parallels Desktop virtual machine on Mac is over a network. But there's one trick to it--make sure to connect both your Mac and Windows PC with an Ethernet cable. You could start the migration over your WiFi, but that's going to take much longer.
