Trying to port an existing win7/pro system over to a vm, tried via the network and external storage and I'm getting "An error occurred while migrating the disks". There's no dynamic volumes, just the system disk (including the recovery partition, which I cannot unselect), no special disk management software, no special HID drivers that I know of (it's a sony FW laptop). I tried via the network and via an external usb disk drive, both fail rather quickly and there's really no information as to why its failing. With the network, I turned the firewall off, and I tried it with MS Security Essentials real time protection on and off, it makes no difference. I filed several trouble reports, here's one from just the save to external storage: 18471741 If there's anything I'm supposed to do first when trying this, I can't find the information as to what it is or how to figure out why it's failing.
I also tried another method, and when that also failed, I started to look at what I had installed on this system, tons of usb drivers, garmin drivers, apple usb device drivers, so after cleaning up the system and getting rid of a bunch of that, the other method worked. I didn't go back and try the parallels agent, but my guess is that it would probably work now. -David
