I'm attempting to migrate a virtual appliance that contains Pentaho 3.5 running against the Infobright Community Edition columnar storage engine for MySQL on Ubuntu jeos 8.04.3. I unpacked the RAR file, and tried to import the virtual appliance by pointing the Parallels Tranpsorter to the vmx file.

I get the following error message:

No operating system is installed on the virtual hard disks or Parallels Transporter is unable to make the operating system bootable. The disks will be migrated to Parallels virtual data disks.
    Do you wish to continue?

At which point I cancel and finish without completing the migration.

The documentation for Transporter lists older versions of Ubuntu as supported source OS. The documentation for Parallels Desktop lists Ubuntu 8.x as supported.

Do Parallels Desktop and Parallels Transporter really support different versions of the Guest/Source OSs?

Is there anyway to successfully run this virtual appliance in Parallels?

    Environment:
MacBookPro with 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo Processor and 2GB of 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    Mac OS X 10.5.8
Parallels Desktop 4.0 for Mac, Build 4.0.3844 (May 5, 2009)

    Thanks in advance.
