Ever since installing Mac OS 10.5.3, I´ve experienced some flickering graphics in Ubuntu. This NEVER happened on this machine before 10.5.3. Anybody else experienced this? Update: This only occured before restarting the VM and never in Windows 98SE.
After upgrading to build 5602 things got worse in Ubuntu 7.10 only. Also the problem with high CPU usage in Windows 98 SE persists. I hope you can track down both of these problems...
Please try new build 5604, it resolved all flickering problems http://download.parallels.com/v3/en/GA/Parallels-Desktop-5604-Mac-en.dmg
unable to even install on 10.4.11, graphics driver issues I will try 5604. I cannot install Ubuntu 7.10 on 10.4.11. I am able to install Ubuntu 6.10, but I get the graphics issues described. Mostly I log in over ssh, so it is not a big deal. A bit annoying, though. The support group is very quick to kick back questions and then close the issue if you do not reply immediately....
still flickering... So, I am running 5604 on a Tiger 10.4.11 system and I still get flickering on a Ubuntu 6.10 install, on a Ubuntu 7.10 install and on a Ubuntu 8.04 install. And there is nothing to be done? It is actually not like just "flickering". It looks like the screen is displaying current content and then the content from a second ago and doing that continuously. So, moving an arrow across the screen shows you the arrow you are moving and its "time-travelling companion" following one second behind....

Here is a snap that kind of shows the problem. I set up a timed picture and was moving the mouse. You see many different fragments of the mouse. Each is from where the mouse was at some point in the recent past.
I have seen these graphical glitches occur through 4 or 5 updates. Is there any reason to think the very next one will fix it? I am, right now, on 5604. I see that I could update to 5608, but I am on Mac OS X 10.4.11 and it looks as though 5608 is only for Leopard. Let me know if I am wrong. FYI, I took a screen recording of the behavior I see. You can view it at: http://www.wykiwyk.com/images/UbuntuFlickerMovie.mov In this movie, I am trying to start things and just moving the mouse around. You can see the flickering that occurs.
So I upgraded to 5608. As with the last 5 or 6 updates, it has made absolutely no difference to this problem.
I use the installer to install the Parallels Desktop. There is only one installer. It installs a bunch of things. Are they the tools?
See Parallels Desktop for Mac user guide from http://www.parallels.com/en/download/file/doc/Parallels_Desktop_for_Mac_User_Guide.pdf on page 90
Well, that certainly makes it a lot better. Too bad it was all the way back at page 90 and it took about 10 times asking before someone pointed to it. Of course, there is still a glitch, but this is almost amusing and definitely not so bad. Check out the dancing title bar in this one: http://www.wykiwyk.com/images/SillyParallelsTopBar.mov
