Hi, I have a Macbook running OS X Lion and Parallels 8, which is running a Windows XP VM. I wanted to connect a USB device but it reports the following message: "There are no virtual USB host controller ports available in the virtual machine for the "DEVICE NAME" device to be connected." It does the same error if I just try to connect the iSight etc. too. I have added (and removed and re-added) a USB & Bluetooth device in PD preferences for this VM. USB appears under devices and the icon is at the bottom of the screen. When I look in the device manager there is no USB, even if I show hidden devices. I have looked for new devices, but nothing. I have tried re-installing Parallels tools and parallels itself. Why is the virtual USB hub not appearing? How can I get it to appear? Any ideas? thanks, eerke
I'm having the exact same issue. I downloaded a parallels VM from here: http://www.modern.ie/en-us/virtualization-tools#downloads to test out our site on IE on my MBP but alas I can't test much without the use of the iSight camera.
I also have this same issue. Doesn't matter which device I try to connect, all fail with the same error message. I have opened a support request with Parallels. I will try to post back here if/when I get a resolution.
Parallels support could not isolate or correct my problem. It was only resolved by creating a new Virtual Machine with a fresh install of the OS (XP). It could be that the old VM was corrupted for some reason, possibly because it was created from a migration of an older Virtual PC install.
