OK - to start, this is like the 5th time I've had this sequence of events happen to me, and I'm the least bit thrilled with Parallels. So right now, everytime I launch Parallels, I get an error telling me "Unable to connect to Parallels Service" "Make sure that prl_disp_service is running or check your firewall settings. If the problem persists, contact the Parallels support team for assistance." Since this has happened to me so many times now, I've realized it happens EVERYTIME parallels decides to automatically update itself. I've gone through all your forum posts and I see it's happening to others too and I find nothing concrete that fixes it. One time, I've used the advice of one of the postings and I was able to launch Parallels, but ever since then, that recipe has no longer worked. What I need from someone (PLEASE!!!) is any of the following: 1). How do I get it so Parallels STOPS getting to this state? I don't think "never updating to a new version fo the software" is a viable answer, but I'll take it if I must. 2). How do I "clear" this prl_disp_service error when it occurs so I can actually USE parallels? (Even after I reboot this error occurs).
