The title of this post is the error message I've been getting when I try to open an Ecco Pro file in Win XP under Parallels ever since I upgraded to build 3214 a few minutes ago. This is supremely important file for me (fortunately I have backed it up). The file still appears to be right there, with 1.1 MB of data. But it can no longer be opened with Ecco, and it can no longer be copied onto my Mac OS 10.4.10 desktop. What on earth is going on? Thanks for any help.

Just to add a little info, I found that other Ecco Pro files open fine. I copied my backup into WinXP and it too works fine. Then I tried to delete the offending file and Windows refused. error message says file is in use by another person or program. Same problem when I tried to rename the file. Sigh.

Is the open file stored in Windows file space or OS X file space?

If it is in OS X file space you can use the command line tool lsof in OS X to see what process has that file open. lsof creates a long list of processes so it helps to pipe the output to grep.

    lsof |grep filename

where filename is the name of the ecco file you are working with.

Thanks for that, dkp. I'm pretty sure the file in question is in Windows space, not OS X space. Is there a comparable measure I can take over on that side? I looked in task manager, thinking Ecco Pro might be running but hidden somehow, but it wasn't on the list of applications or processes or whatever.
