Hello everyone, I got a new Macbook 2.16Ghz 2GB running Leopard, and running the 5582 version of Parallels, it boots to start installing XP, then read the CD, either the mounted image or the physical CD until it throws me an error saying it cannot read the CD, this is before its even asked me where I want XP installed Screeny on Flickr I'll leave that pic there until I find an answer, anybody got any clues?
Just to update you on this, I tried VMPlayer on another box using the same CD and it does the same thing. I know the copy of XP I have is good cos I used it to install XP as a dual boot at one point. It picks up the updates and everything. Any help welcome.
Hello, it seems that the issue is CD-caused indeed. Have you tried to install OS from another CD? Best regards, Alicia.
You might be right here but who knows why, the CD is an original, I forgot to bring it into the office today to try it but have borrowed an XP CD from IT to give it a try tonight. Will update later, if it is the CD I guess its VERY picky about which version of XP it needs. All the packaging of the CD says XP Pro. More info later, thanks for the input
Yep, looks like it was the CD, although I have an original CD in the top left of the CD it does say 'Academic Edition' There must be something somewhere that parallels don't like about this particular vesion of windows. Im happy to post a piccy of the CD should anybody want to see it.
