Hi, I am getting this stupid error when I try to open up my Vista VM. The error is "Unable to open VM configuration file...". So, I thought, if there is something wrong with the VM, I'll just revert to a snapshot. However, I can't even get into Parallels. Everything time I try, it asks me to setup a new VM. This is not what I want to do. Of course I want to start up Parallels, and then try to fix the existing VM. What am I doing wrong? KB
Please try steps bellow You should either define the process locking the .pvs file and disable it, or you should create a new Virtual Machine with existing .hdd file. Required steps: 1. To find out which process is locking the .pvs file open Terminal (Finder -> Applications -> Utilities) and run this command: sudo lsof ~/Documents/Parallels/winxp/winxp.pvs Disable the process locking the .pvs file. 2. To create a new VM do the following: a. Start Parallels. In Parallels Desktop menu bar click File -> New. b. Choose Custom mode of installation. On the next steps leave default settings. c. On the fourth step choose "Use an existing hard disk image". d. Browse to your .hdd file.
