Unable to run Win95/98/Me in Parallels 5 I have Win95 OSR2/Win98 SE/WinMe, all OEM, on CD-ROM discs and I have been able to install all of them without problems in another emulator (Q emu), but I cannot seem to get any of them to work in Parallels Desktop 5. All Win9x versions installed apparently without problems, but when they reboot after installation, saying "Starting Windows for the first time", they all crash with the same error: "While initiallizing device VCACHE: Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer." That's it, just a black screen with the white text (except in WinMe, where it's a BSOD). None of them make it even to the desktop, not even in "Safe Mode". I have a MacPro running OS X 10.6.1 (Snow Leopard), 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (x2) processors with 6GB RAM. I am evaluating Parallels 5 in order to see if it will work for me. So far I am very impressed with the features of the PD emulator. However, I only want to run Win9x so that I can play my old Windows/DOS games (mainly Sierra Online adventures), and if I can't get this to work, I see no value in spending $80 for the product.
