Someone locally has a factory sealed Parallels 16 Desktop subscription software box that has a 1 year subscription in it that they never used. Can I use that to activate a first time install of the current version of Parallels ?
Support? Hello? Over 24hrs and still "awaiting moderation" and even worse, no reply to my question. Would appreciate some assistance.
Hello, Please note that the most recent version of Parallels Desktop for Mac is version 18. That being said, unfortunately you will have to use your license key to activate a downloaded version of Parallels desktop for Mac version 16. You can download Parallels Desktop for Mac version 16 from your Parallels My Account itself. Thanks!
WOW. It's either a language or reading comprehension issue here. Such a simple question but let me try one more time to make it much clearer. #1) I DO NOT own ANY version of Parallels yet. #2) I don't even have a MAC yet (it is on order to be delivered this week hopefully). Once again, my question is (and why it took a week to even get this answer is not a good sign) is: If I download a NEW INSTALL of PARALLELS 18 (yes, 18, 19 was a typo) onto my SOON TO BE delivered BRAND NEW MAC when I finally get it can that download of PARALLELS 18 be NEWLY and for the FIRST TIME be activated with a FACTORY SEALED NEVER OPENED NEVER USED NEVER REGISTERED KEY from Parallels 16 that says "1 YEAR SUBSCRIPTION" on the factory sealed never opened box that a local dealer has for sale ???????????? Hope that was clear and won't take another week to get an answer as the item will probably be gone by then. Thank You
Hi again, The issue is not whether it has already been used or never registered, it's just that when you buy a license key, it has been specifically designed to work with that particular version of the software for which you bought the key. That is why I suggested you to download your specific software version, which is Parallels Desktop for Mac version 16. Thank you.
Again you are missing (or not understanding) the point. I obviously DO NOT WANT 16, I want 18 mainly because I am getting an M2 MAC. If I buy 16 and you then want to charge me for an update to 18 it defeats my whole purpose of saving a few bucks buying the sealed, boxed 16 key at a discount. Now if you had said "If you download and installed 16 using a NEVER BEFORE REGISTERED key you could then update to 18 at no extra charge" that would FINALLY have answered my question but trying to get an answer to whether I can or cannot do that is like pulling teeth.
