I am working on a 17" Macbook Pro - one of the originals - not duocore, with 2mb of ram. I am running Windows XP professional under Parallels (and a second Windows installation under Bootcamp, thank goodness.) All was well until I was prompted to update the program. I ended up with two program icons in the Parallels folder under Applications: the old one is "Parallels" and the new one is "Parallels Desktop". The new one brings up a black and blank OS screen and Parallels Tools won't install. The old one works when I move the new one to the trash, but Parallels Tools hangs when trying to install the network adapter. (I am prompted that my tools version doesn't match my installation. The internet works, but not the network for Activesyc for my mobile phone.) So I appear to have an installation that is half new and half old and all mixed up. Any suggestions? I hate to delete too much and have a hassle with Microsoft if I have to reinstall Windows. I'm pretty close to giving up on Parallels entirely.
