Hi there... So I backed up most of the content of my HDD to my external HD, then I updated to Yosemite from Mavericks. I've clicked into Parallels -Windows 7 Desktop, but there is a big question mark and it keeps saying: "The Virtual Machine Is Not Available - The virtual machine's files have been moved or deleted. If the files are on an external device, reconnect the device. You can also remove the virtual machine from the list or manually locate its files." From everything I've read, everyone is saying to copy my backup PVM file back to my HD. The only problem, I idiotically didn't make a backup copy of my PVM file or VM at all, I didn't think that I needed one, as I thought when I updated it would preserve all that [I'm obviously dumb for thinking that, as well as I am a fairly new OSX user, first Mac ever, have always used Windows] Is there any way I can reset up everything without having to reinstall Win 7? I have the disk somewhere, but my house flooded earlier this year, and I have not been able to find the Win 7 installation disk, because the company that was contracted to do the clean up and packing of all my things has made it virtually impossible to find anything at all. I am still looking, but at this point I don't have any hope of finding it in the next few days even - which sucks because I need to get this going for work ASAP, otherwise I'm in trouble, lol =X. Anyways, all my programs, etc are still there, everything that was installed on my Win 7 VM in Parallels, it just seems to be the .pvm file that is missing. Is there a way to make a new PVM file somehow? Any help majorly appreciated! Thank you so much! P.S. Forgot to mention that I am using Parallels 10, if that matters.
Hello Deja, Only option to retrieve your .pvm file is to check your Time Machine Backup . Please refer to this article to restore pvm file form Time Machine. If you are unable to get pvm files from the Time Machine then make use of this link to download Windows 7.
