Upgrade ||Desktop 9 VM from XP to Windows 7

Can I upgrade Windows XP VM to Windows 7 on my VM while using Parallels Desktop 9?

I find only references to updating to Windows 8 & can't find a thread on this issue.

Any input greatly appreciated!

Yes, it is possible to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7. You will need to select the Custom option during Windows 7 installation.

A custom installation does not preserve your programs, files, or settings.

You need to take a backup of the files and then transfer the files from the back up after installing Windows 7.

Also you need to reinstall your applications by hand after installing Windows 7.
