I just upgraded from Parallels Desktop 3 to version 4.

    Some major usability issues.

I had an Ubuntu installation and a Windows installation. It took about an hour to upgrade the Windows version and about 5 minutes to do the Linux version. The problem were as follows:

    Windows:
After stage 1 of the upgrade, Windows XP kept complaining that it needed to be reactivated. This is necessitated a constant switching to manual mode get rid of this window. It seems you must be using very long timeouts to detect unexpected workflows because this process took forever. 20% 15 minutes, 50% 15 minutes, 75% 15 minutes, etc. Each time the "Windows needs to be re-activated" dialogue was the culprit. I strongly suggest a "fully manual" upgrade process as an option. The automated version has failed on all my images.

    Linux:
The Linux upgrade was almost painless, expect that it seemed that Parallels modified by /boot/grub/menu.lst to go into single user mode and never changed it back again. Not a major thing as most Linux users will be able to figure that out, but it needs to be fixed.
